Rescuing A Life Likely to be Nipped in the Bud

This heartwarming story speaks of a baby who, unlike most other babies, stepped into this real world carrying dense congenital cataract in both eyes. As the baby had only dim and blurred perception, he could neither experience nor respond the way normal infants do. Throughout the day, the infant kept his head bowed, sobbing for long hours, bringing great distress to his family.

His grandfather received the baby with an audacious hope that God would somehow show a way out. One day, a local doctor trained through DECF's primary eye care workshop examined the boy and recognized the signs of cataract heading toward permanent amblyopia. He immediately referred him to the Deep Eye Care Foundation Pediatric Unit.

Investigations in DECF confirmed bilateral congenital cataract. Abdur Rahman underwent two intricate pediatric surgeries free of charge in DECF's dedicated pediatric operating theater. He was also provided corrective pediatric spectacles at no cost.

The boy, who initially could only follow a moving hand, can now see everything with crystalline clarity. He is now an exuberant young child, running to and fro around his family, bringing tears of joy to his grandfather's eyes.
